Stormwater Misconceptions: Rooftop Runoff is Benign
Conventional wisdom holds that stormwater runoff from roadways and driveways are more toxic than runoff associated with residential roofs. Indeed, many laypeople ask "why treat rooftop runoff?" The Center for Watershed Protection has found that rooftop runoff from residential houses (shingle roofs with gutters) contains zinc, copper and lead.
